The Intermountain NATS Regional Board congratulates the participants for their participation in the rigorous professional-level Artist Awards competition. The regional round had seven vetted competitors which was comparable to the applicants in several other regions. Way to go Intermountain NATS! Ultimately, five singers and their pianists were able to perform in Calgary over the April 16-17 weekend. These singers were: Curtis Crafton (ID), Brett Mitchell (MT), Rebecca Pearce (ID), Stephania Romaniuk (AB), and Jessica Turje (AB).
Three singers were selected by Saturday's panel of judges for the Regional Finals on Sunday. The singers were in a three-way tie for first place following the judging! The singers were brought back to the stage to perform one additional piece selected by the judging panel. Jessica Turje was named the winner; Stephania Romaniuk is the first alternate; and Curtis Crafton is the second alternate. Congratulations to these fantastic finalists!
Turje will continue to the National Semi-Finals in Chicago, scheduled for July 7-8, 2016. Part of her trip will be supported with funds from the Intermountain Region. Congratulations, Ms. Turje!
